Bella strolled home. She was yet to get a car - though she was saving up. So she walked the two miles, in the pouring rain. It pelted down, hammering her hood like an alarm clock with huge metal bells.
The hung her head to avoid the water pounding her face and wrecking her hair, and cautiously stepped onto the left side of the road where the pavement vanished. Her foot kept skidding towards the grassy banks, due to the mud that latched onto her tennis shoe and constantly yanked her sideways.
She sighed again in frustration - but it was this or the cruiser. Ugh. 10 minutes gone. Only 20 to go.
Joy unbounded.
