Mary

Mary

Mary closed her eyes and imagined a human's adrenaline; a human's pounding heart.

Mary was not a human. She was not weak, or flimsy, or pointless.

She became fierce and pushed on, though she heard Victoria's footsteps closing.

She had to make it.

She smelled some vampires nearby, they were reaching a town now. They were in the outskirts... of Forks.

Victoria

Victoria

Victoria kept on running, following Mary's scent.

She knew she was near Forks, and she didn't want a run-in with the Cullens, so she leaped into the trees, leaping from one branch to another, the wind blowing in her face.

She felt so alive, something she hadn't felt in years. A huge cat like grin, spread across her face.

But it vanished as quickly as it had appeared, she remembered her mission, and what she had to do.

Mary

Mary

Mary started to feel the fear, lapping at her toes.

Victoria was above her; she had the upper hand. So Mary jumped.

She morphed herself into the shape of a bullet, and plummeted underground, still running. She was very deep, below the roots.

In a short time after slanting downwards, she was running on the pure natural rock.

She had to escape. But would Victoria follow her down here??

Victoria

Victoria

Due to the fact Victoria's eyes, were better than a human's she decided to follow Mary down the hole,

the smell of wet soil, was the first thing that Victoria smelt, it was such a rich earthy smell,

until she caught on to Mary's scent, she ran jumping over rocks, and roots as she went down deeper,

she wondered where it would lead her?

Mary

Mary

Mary had a bit of distance between them now, and she wasn't going to give it up.

She pushed herself to her fullest, tearing through the soil as though it weren't even there. Some of it shot so far back she thought it may hit Victoria, and she hoped it did. She heard a smash... perhaps it had. Yay.

Then she smelt it, what she had been waiting for. Mary grinned evilly and started her tunnel up.

She burst through the surface in front of a big, white house.

Victoria

Victoria

Victoria dodged, some dirt that was kicked back by Mary.

She knew where they were going, they were near the Cullens'.

Victoria didn't know what to do but follow.

Mary

Mary

Mary spat on some soil stuck to her hands and threw it. The overpowering scent of her venom would alert the family.

Hopefully.

She kept running, starting to make a circuit round the Cullens'. She just hoped it was enough.

Victoria

Victoria

Mary was soaking the ground in venom,

she could smell it. Victoria dug a tunnel further away in the forest,

so the cullens wouldn't find her. She carried on the hunt for Mary.

Mary

Mary

Run, run, pant, pant. She wasn't tired, but she was scared, so her breaths came in quick gasps.

She broke through the trees suddenly, and burst into a clearing, dusty round the outside, growing grassier towards the large meadow in the center, framed by several huge sycamores.

The wall she could see most clearly, the south-facing wall, was entirely glass. You could see the foundations for each floor and ceiling.

She powered forward, and heard a click. A door...? 'Please', she thought, 'pleeeeease be a door!'

Alice was alone in her and Jasper's room. The rest of the family had gone on a short trip down to another forest, but Alice hadn't gone with them. She'd seen something happen before and didn't know when it was going to happen so she stayed at the house to keep an eye out in case things went wrong. She hadn't seen any of them in her vision when it happened - even herself hadn't been there and events hadn't turned the right way, and so she had decided to stay behind and then the vision had changed.

Jasper hadn't been so happy at first. He'd wanted to stay with her, but she refused. He needed to have something to hunt. She couldn't keep letting him make sacrifices just so that she didn't have to be alone sometimes. They had forever, after all, and a few days wasn't going to hurt.

It was evening when Alice had felt the force coming through her mind, blinding her natural vision and making her see the events that would unfold very soon. Alice saw everything. As soon as she opened her eyes, she knew that right away it would be time. She could smell the nomad, and hear her just as it was meant to happen.

She bolted downstairs, stepping one foot in front of the other on the carpeted stairs and across the rooms to the back door, in less than a second. She flung open the door and hissed."Get in." at the petrified face that Alice was no way going to leave for dead.

Mary

Mary

Mary ran in the open door, and pressed herself flat against the nearest wall in an awkward position, breathing heavily and noisily.

When she could breathe again, she had no words for how grateful she was. "ohmygoodness!" she said at last. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she said.

She stepped away from the wall, she didn't want to ruin this stranger's home. "Wow, I must have been really obvious for you to hear me. Thank you!"

She smiled and breathed for a moment, then, "I'm Mary, and I'm very grateful! Thank you!" She was alive! Yay!
